Why I Horse Around | My Visit with Kathy K. Taylor

Until there are physical or relational symptoms, you and I don’t always realize how we’re pained or blocked emotionally. That’s one reason I love to horse around…

…and couldn’t wait to when I visited my friend Kathy. As she says in her TEDxUTA talk:

“Horses are 100% honest, 100% of the time.”

From the moment Kathy and I began my session, I knew this wouldn’t be like any other type of therapeutic experience I’ve had so far. (And I’ve tried many.)

I’ve long loved horses, but I didn’t realize just how powerfully they can partner with humans in our own healing journeys or personal growth and development.

Kathy was patient and confident. I never felt rushed or judged. She paid close attention, offering helpful insights and asking keen questions — all of which helped draw things out of me that I didn’t even know where going on!

By the end of only one session, I had already begun to release some heavy burdens yet gained valuable, personalized insights that left me feeling empowered.

The only thing I would have done differently is work with Kathy sooner! All this time later, I still miss that Texas-morning sun, my friend Kathy, and my teacher Roxy (pictured below). When you work with Kathy or hear her speak at an event, come with an open mind…

…and more importantly, an open heart.

Roxy here helped me:

  • further heal from lingering, rejection-rooted wounds;
  • confront what’s left of a nagging fear of being disliked;
  • grasp the beauty of selflessness in relationship;
  • practice surrender & self-control with my emotions;
  • truly SEE the power of a grateful, pure heart…

…and much more!

(And that was just ONE session!)

“Horses are 100% honest, 100% of the time.  What matters to a horse is who you are, not what you are.

And because they don’t judge us — they don’t have an agenda — they’re able to communicate messages to us that others might be unwilling or afraid to share.”
